VERO BEACH — Since 2015, the Cultural Council of Indian River County has been exhibiting art by local artists in four Vero Beach venues.

The Indian River County Courthouse, the Indian River County Administration Complex, the Intergenerational Recreation Center, and the Vero Beach Regional Airport all give artists the opportunity to exhibit their art, while the public enjoys their creativity.

The airport location is in the secure passenger area, so it is not viewable by non-passengers. The other three locations are all open to the public when those buildings are open.

The Indian River County Courthouse is the original venue for the Art in Public Places program, and it is the only location to showcase a solo artist’s works. The exhibit is on the second floor, and features approximately 30 works of art. The current exhibit is on view through June 10.

The Indian River County Administration Complex Buildings A and B also have gallery space for about 30 pieces from the Cultural Council’s member artists. The installations are changed every three months. The current exhibit is on view through May 26.

The Intergenerational Center, known as the IG Center, is a multi-purpose facility run by the county recreation department. The IG Center hosts Cultural Council member artist exhibits in four-month installations. Up to 40 works of art are viewed by the more than 50,000 annual visitors who attend classes, workshops, events, competitions, and sport and recreational activities. The current exhibit, “The Promise Of Spring”, is on view through June 29.

The Vero Beach Regional Airport secure passenger area just past the TSA checkpoint is the newest space for the program. Up to 40 works of art are displayed for the viewing pleasure of 15,000 flyers annually, offering visitors and residents a first and last impression of the artistic creativity in the county. The current exhibit is called “Art in the Time of Pandemic”.

Approximately one month before the close of each installation, Cultural Council member artists are invited to submit their works, sometimes relating to a theme. Juried selections are on display for a three- to four-month time period.

The Indian River County Courthouse is located at 2000 16th Ave., Vero Beach.

The Indian River County Administration Complex is located at 1801 27th St., Vero Beach.

The IG Center is located at 1590 9th St. S.W., Vero Beach.

The Vero Beach Regional Airport is located at 3400 Cherokee Dr., Vero Beach, but you will not be allowed to see the art in the secure passenger area unless you are on a departing or arriving flight.
