From Walmart ‘Fight Hunger. Spark Change’ campaign

FORT PIERCE – Walmart and its Treasure Coast customers helped Treasure Coast Food Bank provide more than 714,000 meals for those who struggle with hunger through the sixth annual Walmart Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign.

Treasure Coast Food Bank received a grant of $71,440 from the nationwide campaign – an increase of more than $10,000 from the previous year.

This year’s campaign, which took place during the spring, included four ways to donate at both Walmart and Sam’s Club stores located in the four-county area served by Treasure Coast Food Bank. Shoppers could buy products from participating national vendors who then contributed to the campaign, donate at the cash register, or donate online. Treasure Coast Food Bank also received a portion of the grant based on its storytelling engagement on social media.

“We’re very excited that the Walmart Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign provides for so many meals for our children, seniors, veterans and families who struggle with hunger,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “We’re grateful to Walmart and to everyone who participated.”

The national campaign raised $26.8 million for Feeding America and its network of food banks, a 16 percent increase over the 2018 campaign.
