PORT ST. LUCIE - Strike out Hunger returns to First Data Field on Aug. 22, as the St. Lucie Mets partner with the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
TCFB will hold a food drive at the field from 5-7 p.m. Anyone bringing two or more canned food items will receive one free ticket to that night’s game against the Clearwater Threshers.
Without the food donation, tickets cost $8-10.
Aug. 22 is also Dollar Night at First Data Field. For $1 each, get an 8 oz. can of Bud or Bud Light, a hot dog, popcorn, or a soda. Purchase a special $12 solo cup and receive $1 refills every Dollar Night.
“This is our third year to partner with the Mets for Strike Out Hunger, and it’s always a great evening at First Data Field,” said Judith Cruz, president and CEO of TCFB. “We’re grateful for the player’s ongoing support of our mission to solve hunger on the Treasure Coast.”
The St. Lucie Mets are the Advance-A affiliate of the New York Mets. They play their minor league season April-September in the Florida State League.
Patrons will learn more about hunger on the Treasure Coast throughout the game. TCFB will sell 50/50 raffle tickets. Before the game, fans can support TCFB while testing their skills in a round of cornhole A dollar buys three tosses, and anyone putting two of three bags in the hole wins a prize donated by the Mets.
This third Strike Out Hunger night is one of several ways the Mets have supported TCFB. The players also have packed food for the school food program, held food drives, and autographed handmade bowls.
TCFB is the only food bank and largest hunger relief organization on the Treasure Coast. For more information about TCFB, call (772) 489-3034 or visit stophunger.org.
