FORT PIERCE – Fort Pierce residents and visitors are invited to spend a Saturday morning beautifying the city by volunteering at the Great American Cleanup, onMarch 2, from 8 a.m. To noon.

This annual event, sponsored by the City of Fort Pierce and Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful, is an opportunity for volunteers to participate in a variety of beautification projects throughout the community.

Participating volunteers will be provided with a free t-shirt, safety supplies and the first 250 volunteers will receive a goody bag. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at PAL Park, 903S.21st St., where volunteers will be assigned to a team to tackle various improvement projects. The 2019 project locations include: Lincoln Park, South Beach, Indian Hills Recreation Area, PAL Park and Citywide Graffiti/Litter Team. Transportation will be provided to and from all project locations.

The cleanup will conclude with a free volunteer BBQ and Festival at PAL Park (903 S 21st St). Volunteers will enjoy a free grilled lunch and refreshing drinks provided by the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority. The community festival will also feature a bounce house, activities, educational booths, raffle prizes and demonstrations.

Students can earn community service hours for scholarships and graduation by participating in the Great American Cleanup. Groups are also welcome! This is a great event to get your family, business, civic organization, sports team, school, church or organization involved.
