MARTIN COUNTY – In early February, U.S. Customs and Border Protection opened a facility at Witham Field. The customs facility allows Martin County boaters, pilots, residents and visitors to conveniently clear customs without having to travel to Fort Pierce or West Palm Beach. Nearly 250 aircraft and marine vessels utilized the facility mid-February through the end of March.

With the increase in airport traffic, customs officers, airport staff and Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) have improved both processes and level of service. Helping Witham Field rise above major metropolitan airports throughout the world, the Stuart Jet Center was recently ranked among the top FBOs in the Americas, in a survey by Aviation International News. Scoring an average of 4.65 out of 5 in 5 survey categories, the Stuart Jet Center secured the:

No. 1 spot for line service, including care, fueling and handling services for passenger, crew and aircraft needs

No. 3 spot for customer service representatives

No 9 spot among the world's most improved FBOs

Moving into the second quarter of 2019, Witham Field is poised to continue delivering a high level of service to its marine and air travelers. "Martin County is thrilled to have the new U.S. Customs and Border Protection Facility at Witham Field, serving marine and aviation needs, providing efficient, streamlined customs processing alongside the customized aviation services of Atlantic Aviation and Stuart Jet Center," said Nerissa Okiye, Manager of Martin County Office of Tourism and Marketing. "We look forward to offering these visitors a convenient way to enjoy all that Martin County has to offer - from agritourism, to arts and culture, fishing, shopping and relaxing along our beautiful coastline," she continued.
