The Martin County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications from individuals interested in volunteering to serve on the following committees.

All individuals serve without compensation and are requested to submit an Application for Appointment to Martin County Administration by Friday, Jan. 4, 2019.

Golden Gate, Hobe Sound, Jensen Beach, Port Salerno Neighborhood Advisory Committee vacancies

The Martin County Board of County Commission seeking applications from individuals interested in volunteering to serve on the Neighborhood Advisory Committees (NAC). The Committee makes recommendations to the Martin County Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) regarding implementation of each area’s Community Redevelopment Plan.

To qualify, you must be an individual who is either:

• A resident of the respective Community Redevelopment Area, as evidenced by being a registered voter in the respective Community Redevelopment Area for at least one year, or

• A resident of Martin County, as evidenced by being a registered voter in Martin County for at least one year, who is also a business owner of a business located within the respective Community Redevelopment Area; or

• A resident of Martin County, as evidenced by being a registered voter in Martin County for at least two years, who is also a senior manager of a business located within the respective Community Redevelopment Area; or

• A resident of Martin County, as evidenced by being a registered voter in Martin County for at least one year, who also owns real property within a mile of the respective Community Redevelopment Area. No more than two members of any respective Neighborhood Advisory Committee will be appointed from category iv. above.

These are four year terms.

• Golden Gate meetings are held the first Monday of every other month at 6 p.m. at the Cassidy Community Center at Golden Gate. Next meeting is Feb. 4.

• Hobe Sound meetings are held the third Wednesday of every other month at 6 p.m. at the Hobe Sound Community Center. Next meetings is March 20.

• Jensen Beach meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of every other month at 6 p.m. at the Jensen Beach Community Center. Next meetings are March 6 & May 1.

• Port Salerno meetings are typically held on the fourth Thursday of every other month at 6 p.m. at the Port Salerno Civic Center. Next meetings are February 28, April 11 & June 13.

All members are expected to attend each and every meeting of the committee. If a member is absent from three meetings of the Committee within a twelve month period, said member is automatically removed from the Committee but may apply for re-appointment by the Board.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board vacancies

The Martin County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to fill vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. The vacant positions are for at-large members who must be Martin County residents and shall not be employed by the County, nor be related to a County employee, or have a business relationship with Parks and Recreation vendors.

It shall be the function of the Board to advise the Board of County Commissioners on the planning and implementation of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and to make recommendations on programs, services, acquisition and uses of parkland, sports and recreation facilities as well as such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of County Commissioners.

Members who miss more than 50 percent of regularly scheduled or three consecutive meetings in a given calendar year will be automatically removed from the Board.

Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. at the Administrative Center, 2401 S.E. Monterey Road, Stuart.

Industrial Development Authority vacancy

The Martin County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Industrial Development Authority.

All members must be residents and registered voters in Martin County. This term will expire in February 2022.

The Industrial Development Authority was created pursuant to Chapter 159 of the Florida Statutes and is responsible for financing and refinancing projects for the public purposes described in “The Florida Industrial Development Financing Act,” Florida Statutes, and for the purposes of fostering the economic development of a County.

Meetings are held as needed. The Liaison for the Authority is the Business Development Board.
