VERO BEACH - On Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, McKee Botanical Garden will offer a special BOGO admission all day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can get one free admission for each paid admission during this timeframe. The last admission ticket is sold at 4 p.m.

Embracing Peace, the centerpiece of the Garden’s featured exhibition by Seward Johnson, will make the perfect backdrop for a memorable Valentine’s Day photograph.  This sculpture of a sailor and nurse embracing was created from the iconic photo taken in Times Square in New York City on V-J Day, Aug. 14, 1945, that captured the jubilant reaction of Americans when the end of World War II was announced.

On Feb. 14, visitors can enjoy a special BOGO admission to the Garden and view Seward Johnson’s Celebrating the Familiar sculpture exhibition which features Johnson's monumental 25 ft. tall Embracing Peace sculpture and twenty life-scale bronze figures depicting what Seward Johnson refers to as “the beautiful moments of ordinary life.”

“We thought it would be fun for our visitors to recreate one of the most famous kisses in American history by posing in front of Johnson’s most renowned sculpture on Valentine’s Day,” stated Christine Hobart, Executive Director. Visitors can have a professional photo taken by Phil Reid of Phil Reid Photography for $25 from 12 pm to 3 pm in front of the sculpture and then McKee will be taking a group photo at 2 pm with all the couples kissing of anyone who wants to participate in this “Flash mob” style “Kiss-In”. Guests are welcome to come as you are or can come dressed in costume to replicate the exact image of the sailor and nurse.

McKee Botanical Garden is located at 350 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach. General admission rates are $12 Adults, $11 Seniors, and $8 Children ages 3-12. Admission is free for members and children under 3.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. The Garden is closed on Monday. The last admission ticket is sold at 4 p.m. For additional information, please visit
