TREASURE COAST – The public is invited to join Slow Food Gold & Treasure Coast as we hold our 8th Annual U-Drive Farm Tour on Saturday, Feb. 16. Join them for a full-day tour of small-scale, sustainable farms in Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie counties.
This is a free event.
Visitors will have an opportunity to get up close to learn about farm animals and farming. A tour guide booklet will be posted at our website www.SlowFoodGTC.org and Facebook page: Slow Food Gold and Treasure Coast. We hope you will join us in celebrating not only healthy living but healthy eating.
We are also raising the bar in 2019 as we turn the spotlight on our chapter business partners who have earned a Snail of Approval and potential candidates, as well as our local farmers, micro-growers and eateries. By celebrating them and what they contribute to the local food market, we raise public consciousness of the Slow Food movement, their devotion, entrepreneurship and joie de vivre.
As part of the Slow Food mission, the Board of Directors, chapter members and its Snail of Approval awardees invite area-wide foodies to “Celebrate Local Food Week”, raising awareness of farm-to-fork cuisine, fresh from Florida green market vendors and chef epicurean specialties. Snail of Approval awardees have been invited to prepare a meal, hold an event or workshop (for a nominal fee or free to the public) in celebration of local food systems.
Contributing to the local, fresh food movement, our growers and producers offer the finest products that are beneficial to a healthy lifestyle. The Snail of Approval distinction is awarded to those whose lives are dedicated to growing and producing healthy food from the earth.
If and artists would like to participate at a farm on the tour as a plein air painter, watercolorist or display your food artistry, contact Debra Magrann [firstname.lastname@example.org].
