You don’t need to be a Shakespearean scholar to enjoy this comedic send-up of the Bard’s works. From its clever start to its raucous ending and at all points in between, the laughs come faster than you can count in this 1987 hit show that has been updated by the playwrights to be both timely and hilarious. Witness the madcap romp through the Bard’s plays —the comedies, tragedies, histories, and even the “obscure plays” — all 37 plays in 97 minutes.
Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield distill over 100 hours from the great playwright of the English language, poke fun at the most famous characters and stories in literary history, and spice it with audience participation.
Director Richie Lester adds, “This audience-interactive comedic romp is part Play and part Improv, and is designed to appeal to Shakespeare lovers and Bard newbies alike.” Starring Megan Pollak, Audrey Stabile and David Tanner, “The Complete Works of Shakespeare” will bring delight at A.C.T. on August 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8:00 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m.
