Developing from a tropical wave in the central Atlantic on September 24, Hurricane Dorian churned over several islands in the Bahamas on September 1including Grand Bahama and Abaco Island.  Islanders endured 48 hours of almost unprecedented fury from the Category 5monster with sustained winds of 185 miles per hour, gusting to 220. Skirting the coast of Florida as a Category 3 hurricane on September 5-6, Florida was spared a landfall as Dorian continued it’s destruction all the way up the the east coast of the United States to Canada.
