PORT ST. LUCIE -- For a quarter of a century, Treasure Coast residents in search of bargains on literal treasures have sought out the expertise and buying power of Hawk Levy who has stood guard over St. Lucie Jewelry & Coins at the same location here since 1994.

Over the last 25 years Mr. Levy has earned a reputation for offering a vast array of loose diamonds, diamond jewelry, fine timepieces, precious metals and rare coins at rock-bottom prices. What began as a one-man jewelry store two and a half decades ago has mushroomed to 18 employees in two different locations offering much more than just fine jewelry. The entrepreneur added rare coins and precious metals to the mix 15 years ago.

“We buy and sell all types of precious metals and rare coins,” Mr. Levy said. “We stock over 1,000 diamond engagement rings and loose diamonds, as well as a huge selection of both vintage and contemporary sterling silver. We also carry hundreds of tennis bracelets and diamond studs. all at wholesale prices to the public. As for our watches, we have a nice selection of pre-owned and fully-reconditioned Rolexes and other high-end watches. We are also authorized dealers for Seiko watches, Citizen watches and G-Shock watches.”

St. Lucie Jewelry & Coins has grown substantially since Mr. Levy first rented the storefront at 9168 S. U.S. 1 near the northeast corner of Walton Road. Over the ensuing years the successful business has swallowed up two adjacent storefronts, now totaling approximately 2,500 square feet of retail space. The owner attributes his success to a commitment to customer satisfaction and nearly 40 years of hard work in the industry.

“I have been a diamond dealer and estate jeweler since 1980, and 90 percent of our inventory comes from estates, trusts, attorney referrals and individuals,” he explained.

“We have over $3 million and thousand of pieces in stock. We have well over 100,000 customers that have shopped with us since 1994 and over 200 five-star reviews. We really go out of our way to make our customers happy.”

In addition to adding precious metals and rare coins to his offerings, Mr. Levy has implemented other significant changes in recent years, all in tune with his motto of “being a hometown jeweler with wholesale prices to the public.” St. Lucie Jewelry & Coins opened its Jensen Beach location in 2016, and the company now oversees both auction and custom jewelry design divisions.

“We auction assets that have come from the private sector through estate liquidations or legal proceedings,” Mr. Levy said. “This division is called Confiscated Assets Auctioneers and has really taken off. We also have a huge custom design handmade division in which everything is handmade with very few computer-generated designs.”

With such a broad variety of fine jewelry, watches and other collectables, St. Lucie Jewelry & Coins makes the perfect spot for finding that special gift, even for the hardest person to please on your Christmas list. A casual stroll through the Port St. Lucie location reveals much more than fine jewelry, precious metals and coins. In addition to paintings, silver tea sets and antique jewelry and turquoise, you’ll find some highly unusual gift ideas from huge rock crystals to a 50-pound solid silver dragon and a solid gold letter opener reputedly belonging to Argentine legend Evita Peron.

The success of St. Lucie Jewelry & Coins and its founder has also caught the attention of national publications. The business was named Best Independent Jeweler for 2009 by National Jeweler Magazine.

In honor of his 25th anniversary and as a way of expressing his gratitude to the public, Mr. Levy is hiding some 75 valuable treasures throughout the community this Christmas season with a tag good towards entry into a contest for a $1,000 shopping spree in the store.
