Gaetano’s Beauty Salon: Decades of styling experience on Hutchinson Island, now in PBG

Gaetano Izzo

JENSEN BEACH — For the last three years, Treasure Coast residents and in particular those who live on Hutchinson Island have reaped the benefits of the decades of hair-styling experience available at Gaetano’s Beauty Salon.

The regular customers who go there for a vast array of services at the full-service salon really have to credit Owner Gaetano Izzo’s failed attempt at retirement in 2015. After five decades of hair-styling in New Jersey, he traded his clippers and styling chair for a beachside condo in Stuart, but quickly discovered he preferred those items to idleness.

“I’ll never retire again,” he said. “I don’t like retirement.”

Prior to relocating to Martin County, Mr. Izzo owned five different salons in the Garden State beginning when he was 18 years old and has always studied the latest trends to stay current with today’s hairstyles.

“I would go to classes all over the world to learn,” he said. “I went to classes in Italy for three years and California for 10 years. You can count on the stylists at Gaetano’s Beauty Salon to keep abreast of the beauty industry. Our stylists are highly trained and have studied all over the world. We believe in continuous learning, so our staff is always taking new classes to stay up-to-date for you.”

Patrons at Gaetano’s can select from a broad range of salon services, including haircuts, coloring, waxing, hair extensions, wedding party hair styling and keratin treatments. The briefly retired entrepreneur has trained all of his staff to develop a rapport with customers before they begin cutting to ensure they understand exactly what the person sitting in the chair wants and expects to see that day.

“You can count on the award-winning stylists at Gaetano’s Beauty Salon to create a unique cut and color that suits you and your lifestyle,” he said. “You will love working with our highly trained styling experts to come up with an amazing new look for you.

You can choose from a rainbow of coloring options from brands like Freelights Balayage-Paint, imported Wella Koleston, Blondor or our new Magma. We use Sebastian and Wella Eimi shampoos and conditioners, and we have developed our Gaetano line of products as well.”

Mr. Izzo said customers always rave on the results received from the keratin hair-straightening treatments at the salon.

“You will leave Gaetano’s Beauty Salon feeling amazing when you take advantage of our Keratin treatment services,” he added. “Our highly trained styling experts use a product called Keratin Complex to straighten and smooth your hair. The three-hour Keratin treatment will leave your hair smooth and straight for three to six months.”

Mr. Izzo has so enjoyed his local success that he’s now decided to branch out and expand his services to Palm Beach Gardens, where he’ll celebrate the grand opening of the second Gaetano’s Beauty Salon Oct. 20 at the corner of U.S. 1 and PGA Boulevard. In building his golden-age Florida hair-styling legacy, he is building on the hair-styling legacy he began in his hometown of Raritan, New Jersey, where two of his children still run the salon he opened more than 50 years ago. He first discovered his passion for hair styling at age nine, when he began helping out in a Raritan barber shop and inadvertently following in the footsteps of his grandfather and grandmother in Italy, who both worked as hairstylists. Over the course of the subsequent decades, he has earned numerous accolades, winning both the World’s Championship, Global Championship, Western Hemisphere Championship and several smaller competitions.
