OKEECHOBEE - Tickets are on sale for the Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival. The four-day party takes place Thurs., March 5-Sun., March 8.
Not only will tickets likely sell out far in advance, but the prices also keep increasing as time passes. Prices for the least expensive tickets have already risen from the $249 to $279, which isn’t bad considering it includes four days of all-day concerts, plus all-night parties.
VIP experiences include a $3,500 “Glamping Rockstar Package” for two. That pass gets you and a friend access to “enhanced features” including a deluxe glamping tent in a premier location with one deluxe queen or two twin memory foam mattresses, bedside table and chairs, linens, towels, and pillows, tent lighting, A/C, and 110V power strip with four outlets. Also included are private viewing areas at the three main stages and a 24-hour dedicated on-site concierge team to assist with all of your needs.
The first two Okeechobee Music Festivals in 2016 and 2017 sold out. The third in 2018 came close but did not achieve a complete sell-out. In total, the three festivals drew about 100,000 people.
The festival took a hiatus last year, as Soundslinger, the company that produced the first three festivals, moved on. The 2020 event will instead be produced by Insomniac, a California-based company that started in the Los Angeles underground dance music scene of the early 1990s.
“I’m a big fan of what the Okeechobee team has built, and honored to be able to lead such a unique event and continue the journey,” said Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac. “This is one of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever set foot in. The trees and jungles, the beach, the open fields, Sunshine Grove has a powerful energy, and this environment helps create a truly special festival.”
The lineup has shifted from the all-ages and all-genres mix of prior years to this year’s heavy emphasis on acts that appeal to a younger crowd.
The weekend kicks off March 5 with a nighttime pre-party featuring Rufus Du Sol. On March 6, festival veteran Bassnectar leads a line-up that will include Big Gigantic, Papadosio, Lotus, and St. Paul & the Broken Bones.
On Saturday, March 7, Sublime with Rome, Vampire Weekend, Hiam, and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe headline, with the festival’s traditional “PoWow!” combining many special guests in a memorable mash-up of styles.
The big acts closing the show on Sun., March 8 will be Mumford & Sons, Glass Animals, Alison Wonderland, and Machine Gun Kelly.
There will be more acts announced, but fence-sitters should not wait - the festival may be sold out before those names are revealed.
