Ladies of Soul

The Ladies of Soul will bring Motown to the Treasure Coast, April 20 at Summer Crush Vineyard, to benefit EOC/Head Start.

FORT PIERCE - The Economic Opportunities Council of Indian River County will hold its annual fundraiser “Motown Nights” at the Summer Crush Vineyard and Winery in Fort Pierce on Saturday, April 20, from 5-9 p.m.

EOC operates five Head Start centers in Indian River County with 16 classrooms. Head Start is a comprehensive, holistic early childhood development program for three and four-year-old children from low income families.

The event will feature music by Ladies of Soul, dancing, a live and silent auction, food, drink, and door prizes. The fundraiser will help fund Head Start and other EOC programs serving low-income people in the community.

The Ladies of Soul have a special connection to the cause. Lead singer April French attended EOC’s Head Start program as a young girl. April French’s children also attended Head Start.

“I remember Head Start as feeling like family, so much so that when I had my own children, I left them in the hands of the people who helped to shape my life,” said Ms. French.

Children who attend high-quality preschool programs like Head Start do better when they enter kindergarten. Head Start promotes school readiness by enhancing children’s social, physical and cognitive development.

The Ladies of Soul are looking forward to helping raise funds for the program that has given so many a positive head start in life.

“You won’t want to miss Motown Nights,” said Ms. French. “We will be singing the hits of Diana Ross and the Supremes, Mary Wilson, Martha and the Vandellas, and many more!”

Tickets are $50 per person and include a buffet dinner, your first glass of wine, and a complimentary souvenir glass. Tickets can be purchased on EOC’s web site, and at the EOC office, 2455 St. Lucie Ave., Vero Beach. Limited tickets will be available at the door.

Summer Crush Vineyard & Winery is located at 4200 Johnston Road, Fort Pierce.
