SEBASTIAN — Billy Ashbaugh, the current drummer for The Moody Blues, will bring his side project band, Occasional Astronauts, to Capt. Hiram’s in Sebastian on Sat., April 24, at 7:30 p.m.

Occasional Astronauts plays cover tunes that were radio hits from the 1960s through today. Some of the bands they cover are Billy Joel, Elton John, Bob Marley, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Rolling Stones.

They also play some country hits by Garth Brooks and Johnny Cash.

In addition to his time with The Moody Blues, Mr. Ashbaugh played drums for NSYNC and Britney Spears during the 2001 Super Bowl halftime show.

Joining Mr. Ashbaugh on guitar and vocals is Texas native Kirk McKim, who has been performing professionally for over 25 years. Mr. McKim toured and recorded as a member of the Pat Travers Band for 10 years.

Rounding out the Occasional Astronauts are Kenny Martin on vocals/guitar/percussion and Rick Jorgensen on bass/vocals. Both Mr. Martin and Mr. Jorgensen were formerly members of the popular Orlando band Curb 60.

Other shows at Capt. Hiram’s this weekend are LMN on April 23 at 3 p.m., followed by Hypersona at 7:30 p.m.; Southern Thunder on April 24 at 3 p.m. before Occasional Astronauts; and the Last Call Band and Axcents on April 25.
