SEBASTIAN - Blues/rock guitarist Mike Zito returns to Earl’s Hideaway in Sebastian for a free afternoon concert on Sun., Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.
Mike Zito is a nationwide favorite of fans of the blues. He won Blues Rock Artist of the Year at the 2018 Blues Music Awards in Memphis for his album “Make Blues Not War”, and his album “First Class Life” reached the #1 position on national blues albums charts.
From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Zito also played in the southern rock/blues supergroup Royal Southern Brotherhood.
Mike Zito’s new album “Rock N Roll: A Tribute to Chuck Berry" features twenty-one guest guitarists including Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Robben Ford, Luther Dickinson, Albert Castiglia, Anders Osborne, Jimmy Vivino, Tommy Castro, and Chuck Berry’s grandson, Charlie Berry III.
“This was a very special project for me,” said Mr. Zito. “I was born and raised in Chuck’s hometown of St. Louis, and I lived there for 32 years. I worked at a small musical instrument store where his drummer also happened to be employed. Chuck’s son would drop by on occasion as did Chuck himself.”
“I was fortunate enough to open for and play with Chuck Berry on occasion. He was an icon, and rightfully so. I’ve been playing his songs since I was a kid. Needless to say, he was a tremendous influence on my career, and, of course, on many other musicians as well.”
Also performing is Odds Lane, a blend of blues, rock, and pop led by songwriter Doug Byrkit on guitar and bass and longtime musical partner Brian Zielie on drums.
