INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - Beginning Nov. 10, the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation will offer free writing workshops for teens.

If your teenager is a budding writer, or if you want to discover, improve and engage your teenager’s talents, try one free workshop or all four.

Workshops are sponsored by and held at the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation Writing Center at 1914 14th Ave. in downtown Vero Beach.

The first workshop is Sun., Nov 10, 12:30-3:30 p.m., “Nature Journaling with One Minute Videos.” Presenter Kerryane Monahan will demonstrate how to write nature journals.

On Sun., Jan 19, 12:30-3:30 p.m., learn about “Comics the Marvel Way.” Presenter John Rhett Palmer will demonstrate the comic book making process from a Marvel perspective.

On Sat., Feb 22, 1-4 p.m., “Writing with Your Cell Phone” with presenter Suzanne Fox will be a fun, interactive workshop exploring the images on our phones as starting points for writing.

On Sat., April 4, 1-4 p.m., try “Poetry” with presenter Cathy Smith Bowers. Learn to write poetry with a former poet laureate of North Carolina.

All workshops are free and open to all Indian River County teens ages 13-18.
